Zoom Meet-ups
If you are caring for someone, come along to one of our informal monthly peer-to-peer Zoom meet-up sessions. Pop in for 10 minutes or stay for the hour. You don’t need your camera on and don’t have to use your full name. Just meeting and sharing with other carers working in the film and TV industry can be really positive.
Members have emphasised how supportive it feels to be seen and heard by others who best understand what carers go through working in the industry, despite each of us being on our own individual journeys.
“I cannot express how transformative it was talking to the group yesterday. I was quite emotional afterwards!! I really value you sharing your experience and wisdom. Thank you for your kind words and practical advice. I will definitely be joining in again and want to help change things in this industry and for people at home.”
The Film and TV Carer’s Club is run by carers, for carers. At our Zoom meet-ups, we share, care and support one another. We laugh. We cry. We listen. We help each other on what can be an emotional and lonely path.
Collectively, through our lived experiences, we have the knowledge and experience to solve some of the challenges we face as carers working in film and TV. If you need advice for you, or the person you care for, another Film and TV Carer’s Club member will probably have the answer.
Carer’s UK research has highlighted that two thirds of UK adults will care for a loved one who is older, physically disabled or mentally ill. There’s a 50% chance of becoming an unpaid carer once you’re over 50, but it’s a decade earlier for women.
Some people love their unpaid caring roles, but for others, caring has been thrust upon them. If you need to express your true feelings, that’s fine. We really do get it. Film and TV Carer’s Club Zoom meet-ups are a space for you to be you and for us to help one another through an experience that can be so isolating.
At Film and TV Carer’s Club Zoom meet-ups, you can share without judgement and meet others who truly understand what you are going through because, no matter who we care for, we have a common bond of being carers working in film and TV.
