Carer’s Club began with a focus group
Our story
We launched in May 2021 after carers met online through the Film and TV Charity’s work for better mental health in our industry.
In 2022, we were awarded a Film and TV Charity Freelancer Connector Grant to run a 6 month pilot and launched our website in 2023.
We’re open to anyone who works, or used to work, in the film or TV industry and is also a carer.
We meet each month on Zoom and endeavour to create a comfortable, positive, supportive and non-judgemental environment.
“I’ve learnt there is a real strength that comes from making the time to connect with other carers.”

Our aims are:
To build relationships and support more carers working in film and TV
To empower carers to remain in, or return to, work in the industry.
To raise awareness and encourage carer conversations with employers about supporting their carers in the workplace.
To help ourselves become more comfortable being carers and rebalance our professional and personal lives.
Restore a sense of self ‘professionally’ and ‘personally’, while reframing each of our caring roles.
We hope to build a sustainable, supportive peer-to-peer community by listening to the needs of our carers. Being a carer in film and TV can be a very lonely place, but it doesn’t have to be that way any more.
We dream big! We plan to:
Increase the frequency of the Film and TV Carer’s Club Zoom meet-ups and arrange face to face gatherings.
Create interactive webinars with a range of guest speakers relevant to carers working in film and TV.
Provide courses and webinars to improve carer’s resilience and insight into caring for core cared-for sectors.
Provide courses and workshops to improve the wellbeing of film and TV carers.
Develop confidence workshops/opportunities for carers returning to work in film and TV.
Create skills refreshers, upskilling and retraining opportunities within film and TV for carers.
Provide one to one CV and coaching support, as well as mentoring for carers returning to work.
Develop our training and consultancy services for employers.
Develop a member’s job matching service for employers who have flexible working opportunities for carers.
Create and promote an anonymous ‘ jobs wanted board’ for carers to advertise their skills and expertise alongside their flexible working requirements.
